What is a Health Coach?

 

Americans are at risk for deadly, but entirely preventable diseases due to sedentary, stressful lifestyles. As a Certified Health Coach, I help people adopt healthy, long-term, sustainable behaviors that can change the course of their lives. 


A Personal Trainer can help you achieve a goal like weight loss, increased strength, more muscle or help you train for a specific event. As a Health Coach, I can help you with those goals too, but I also take a broader approach that includes your entire lifestyle. 


My goal as a Health Coach is to help you achieve a healthy balance in your life. We may not be as concerned about any one area as much as your overall health.  I help people make lifestyle changes by talking with them about their health history, their experiences and their vision for themselves. I help my clients develop strategies for dealing with challenges that may be preventing them from achieving their best health. 


As a Health Coach, I am less concerned about your six-pack abs and more concerned about your overall health and happiness.  Some of the areas where I can assist you are:


1) Weight management: I can help you identify a healthy weight loss goal and help you develop a plan to achieve it and maintain it.  Losing weight post pregnancy, or following menapause can be challenging for many women.  


2) Stress Management: Stress is one of the most dangerous risk factors in our environment. Learning to identify it and developing strategies to manage it are keys to a healthy lifestyle.  Meditation, healthy eating and regular exercise are all parts of the equation.  As you coach, I hold you accountable to yourself and help you stay on track.


3) Reducing risk factors of Metabolic Syndrome: High blood pressure, obesity, glucose intolerance, visceral abdominal fat (Hip to waist ratio) and sedentary behavior are all risk factors for chronic diseases. Managing these risk factors through lifestyle modifications has many benefits over medications which often have undesirable side effects.


4)  Increased strength and endurance.  Sarcopenia, or the loss of muscle mass as we age, is a serious problem in our sedentary culture.  Put simply, people are weaker today than their parents and grandparents.  As we age, that weakness becomes a big problem leaving many people unable to take care of themselves.  Increasing your strength with resistance training is the most effective way to counter Sarcopenia.


Making the decision to hire a coach to help you achieve your goals is an important one. Your relationship with your coach is a partnership. Success depends on each partner being dedicated to the goal. If you ask me to help you achieve your goals, you can be assured that I will be with you all the way. Whether it's helping you make a meal plan and shopping list or an exercise plan and training regimen, If you are committed to improving your health, I am committed to helping you do it.


Total Body Transformation

Total Body Transformation is a concentrated, three month program designed to get you maximum results in the shortest time possible.  Package includes six workouts per week, diet planning and body composition measurements each week.  If you want to see your body change, this is the program for you.
